My husband and I are busy folk, and have a lot of interests; such as writing, books, more books, art and photography, history and prayer and worship, Bible study, and music. Full schedules and always more to do than time to do it…

The MOVE shifted us! Kind of a reality quake. A revelation of many proportions to us, and all in a very short span of time! You see, our apartment in the Victorian house of a great friend was packed with bookshelves and art supplies and the computer office, and then we learned we had to move because our landlady friend needed the apartment for her son. There was a quick timing on all of this. So we took a deep breath and packed and moved and the process began. As we surveyed the task ahead of us and measured it all against the size of our new apartment, we had a problem.

We were encumbered. A lot of stuff. No way to put it all in our new place. We also knew that it was a work of God, Who chose this lovely place for us. A fresh new start! Early this June morning I knew He was telling me that our souls were getting stretched thin from all our schedules demanded.

“Just lay down in green pastures and rest in Me,” Jesus was saying. Getting rid of the extra stuff hurt and was time consuming, but what a great releases from less to care for. The Lord Himself helped us to get unwieldy burdens off one at a time, and to feel the freshness of not only a new start, but a less encumbered one, at that. Wow. It is starting to feel better to have less stuff.

Therefore then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses … let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance … and that sin which so readily … clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us … (Heb 12:1 Amp)
